Dell Drives Growth in 1st Quarter

Dell reported record fiscal first quarter revenue of $16 billion, a 9 percent year-over-year increase, and earnings of $0.38 cents per share, a 12 percent increase.

In addition to increased revenue and earnings, Dell also lowered operating expenses and saw share gains across all major product categories and regions.

A New Standard for Energy-Efficient Computing

Dell is designing our laptops and desktops to consume up to 25 percent less energy by 2010. As a result, we expect to avoid millions of tons of CO2 emissions worldwide and drive unprecedented customer savings. Since 2005, the energy efficiency of our OptiPlex desktops has improved nearly 50 percent, and Latitude laptops have improved 16 percent since 2006.

Dell’s HQ Goes 100 Percent Green

Dell is now powering 100 percent of our 2.1 million sq. ft. global headquarters campus with 100 percent green power, the latest step in meeting our 2008 carbon neutral commitment.

Dell is using all of the power generated from Waste Management’s Austin Community Landfill gas-to-energy plant, meeting 40 percent of our headquarters’ campus power needs. The remaining 60 percent comes from existing wind farms and is provided by TXU Energy.
