The Dell PowerEdge 3250 server combines advanced Intel Itanium 2 processor technology in a small form factor, making it a compelling alternative to RISC-based systems for HPC environments

The DellTM PowerEdgeTM 3250 server delivers excellent power and performance in a rack-optimised 2U form factor. It is designed to support two Intel® Itanium® 2 processors, making it a suitable node for compute-intensive high performance computing (HPC) clusters. The latest generation in the Intel processor family, the Itanium 2 chip is based on the Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing design philosophy to help ensure performance scaling and address common architectural challenges.
This server also offers fast access to large data sets with up to 6 MB L3 of integrated cache and 16 GB of registered DDR 200/266 SDRAM. Plus, it includes an Ultra320 SCSI controller and a 400 MHz system bus for fast interface from system bus to hard drives.
More bang for your buck
Based on industry-standard technology, the PowerEdge 3250 server can help contribute to innovations in supercomputing. It is compatible with many hardware and software products, and cost-effectively integrates into your existing infrastructure. Additionally,
the PowerEdge 3250 server offers investment protection and outstanding platform longevity by supporting multiple generations of the Itanium processor family.
The PowerEdge 3250 server offers further investment protection with highly expandable features. It is scalable, with up to eight DIMM slots that enable you to increase server memory as your needs increase. Plus, it provides three PCI-X I/O slots so you can expand the functionality of your system by adding PCI-X cards.
Ready when you are
Hot-plug redundant power supplies and hot-plug SCSI hard drives help make the server highly available for the intense demands of HPC. Plus, integrated mirroring enables you to mirror the operating system or data on local drives to help guard against system outages or data loss. Advanced Machine Check further helps minimize loss, corruption, and downtime.
You can manage it
The PowerEdge 3250 server is designed for simple manageability. Its remote management capabilities enable you to manage your remote server infrastructure from a centralized location. Integrated Base Board Management Controller support allows
remote access through a serial port or network connection without consuming a PCI slot. Plus, the PowerEdge 3250 provides an intuitive graphical user interface to easily monitor server status and control system activities.
