Short on data centre space? The new Dell PowerEdge 1655MC blade server featuring Intel Pentium® III processors allows you to support the same number of users with less hardware, helping you streamline management, eliminate equipment, and reduce total cost of ownership.
Blade servers consolidate processors, memory, storage, and network connections onto a single motherboard. Several blades fit side-by-side in a common chassis and share the same power and management infrastructure, resulting in reduced operating expenses. Six Dell PowerEdge 1655MC blades in a 3U enclosure, for example, equal twice the density of a traditional 1U server, without compromising performance or availability.
You can purchase the PowerEdge 1655MC in either a single or dual Intel Pentium III processor configuration for up to 1.4 GHz of processing power. For added versatility and performance, you can expand the blade's on-board hard disk and memory to up to 146 GB and 2 GB, respectively.
The PowerEdge 1655MC also provides two Gigabit1 Ethernet network interface cards with load balancing and failover support, helping you ensure continuous uptime for critical applications. The blade server's integrated management card enables remote chassis and individual blade monitoring from a single console, simplifying administration and increasing productivity. The PowerEdge 1655MC comes with Dell OpenManage systems management software and industry-leading Dell support services.
The X factor
Enterprise workgroups and small- to medium-sized businesses requiring expandable, cost-effective performance should look no further than the Dell PowerEdge 2600. Based on dual Intel XeonTM processors, the PowerEdge 2600 delivers up to 2.4 GHz of processing power and up to 6 GB of memory for demanding applications, such as print sharing and Web serving.
The PowerEdge 2600 can easily scale with your growing demands. The server offers six 64-bit PCI-X expansion slots that can exchange data with high-speed, add-on peripherals, such as Gigabit Ethernet cards, at a rate of more than 1 Gbps. The server also provides up to eight high-performance Ultra320 SCSI hard drives for 584 GB of internal storage.
The PowerEdge 2600 is available with factory installation of Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Small Business Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, or Red Hat® Linux® operating system. The server is also certified and validated for Microsoft Windows NT and Novell® NetWare.
