Blade Server Benefits

True Server Functionality

Dell believes that customers should get true server functionality without compromise, as compared to other blade server vendors that require customers to make a significant trade-off between density and features.

The PowerEdge 1855 delivers true server functionality including dual Intel® XeonTM  processors with EM64T, 800MHz front side bus, dual hot-plug Ultra320 SCSI 3.5" hard drives, DDR-2 memory scalable to 16GB (with 4GB DIMMs available mid 2005), PCI-Express, and integrated server management.

Blade Server Internal

The PowerEdge 1855 not only shares many of the features of the PowerEdge 1850, but it also shares a common system architecture. Customers who require the performance and manageability of the PowerEdge 1850 can easily integrate the PowerEdge 1855 into their data center with few changes. For example, the Baseboard Management Controller commonality between platforms allows the PowerEdge 1855 to appear the same way to management applications as existing eighth generation PowerEdge servers.
