Deutschland
In Deutschland ist Dell Mitglied des Gemeinsamen Rücknahmesystems Batterien (GRS). GRS übernimmt die in der Batterieverordnung festgelegte Verpflichtung der Hersteller und Importeure zur unentgeltlichen Rücknahme gebrauchter Batterien, zur Wiederverwertung der Batterien nach den bundesdeutschen Abfallbestimmungen und zur Entsorgung nicht recyclingfähiger Batterien.
GRS Batterien stellt zu diesem Zweck Rücknahmebehälter bereit und organisiert die Entsorgungsdienstleistungen, d. h. Logistik, Einsammlung, Transport, Sortierung, Wiederverwertung und/oder Entsorgung. Dell complies with the legal requirements for battery Takeback in Greece through membership of the collection scheme "AFIS".
Participation in the battery recycling system is not obligatory. Since Dell participates in the EEW collective system, recycling of laptop batteries is covered by our participation in that system.

Ireland
In Ireland Battery Waste is Classified as Hazardous waste. There are two principal categories of battery: lead acid batteries and other (small) batteries. No recycling of lead acid batteries is being carried out in Ireland and all lead acid batteries collected by authorised contractors are exported whole for recycling.
Small batteries are used in watches, calculators, torches, remote controls, mobile phones, etc. Some are rechargeable and some are not. Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries and mercury cells are classified as hazardous waste. All other small batteries are non-hazardous waste. It is reported that 120 tonnes of small batteries were exported for recycling in 2001.
The EU directive 2003 -723 amending 91-157 will require collection schemes to be set up in EU Member states no later than 2 years after the Directive is approved. Dell will do all that is required to meet or exceed any new requirements when the EU Directive in transposed into Irish Law. The most likely method to show compliance will be through membership of a National compliance scheme, similar to the packaging compliance scheme run by Repak.
Until the new EU battery Directive is transposed, Dell advises customers to ensure that batteries are not included in household waste and deposited in battery collection facilities for appropriate recycling.

Actuellement, le Luxembourg ne dispose pas d'une législation sur les batteries. Par défaut, tous les emplacements pour batteries usagées au Luxembourg comportant la mention Dell sont conformes à la directive européenne sur les batteries usagées.

Bij Koninklijk Besluit van 31 januari 1995 trad het Besluit beheer batterijen in werking. Het Besluit werd gewijzigd en op 8 november 2000 gepubliceerd in het Staatsblad (nr. 487).
Om dit besluit na te leven, is Dell als milieubewust bedrijf lid van Stibat, de organisatie die de inzamelactiviteiten voor lege batterijen in Nederland coördineert.

Na terenie Polski firma Dell spełnia wymagania prawne dotyczące postępowania z bateriami, dzięki członkostwu w organizacji odzysku RekoPol.
Obowiązujące przepisy prawne weszły w życie w maju 2001 roku i określają standardy, które muszą być spełniane przez przedsiębiorstwa od 2007-12-31. Dzięki członkostwu w organizacji RekoPol firma Dell spełnia wymagania prawne już dzisiaj.

United Kingdom
The main requirements of the UK/EC battery legislation include:
- Restrictions to the amount of mercury in batteries – prohibitions on marketing of batteries above those levels.
- Take appropriate steps to ensure that spent spent NiCds are collected separately with a view to their recovery or disposal - gradual reduction, in household waste .
- Ensure that NiCds and, where appropriate, appliances into which they are incorporated are marked in the appropriate manner. The marking must include indications as to the following points: separate collection; where appropriate, recycling; the heavy-metal content.
- NiCds cannot be incorporated into appliances unless they can be readily removed, when spent, by the consumer.

Dell complies with the UK Battery Legislation by ensuring that the materials used in its UK marketed batteries are within the parameters set out by the UK /EC battery legislation.
The transposition of the new EU Battery directive into UK legislation and the implementation of a UK national recycling will be led by the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Dell will do all that is required to meet or exceed any new requirements when the EU Directive in transposed into UK Law.
