  • Renew OSL agreement for another three years (best option)
  • Buy licenses outright (at approximately 1.5 years of the agreement cost - licenses converted to perpetual)

QWhat are my license rights under this program?
AAny organisation with 5 or more PCs can participate in this agreement. Enrolment is made easy through the WStore on-line configurator. This program is enterprise wide.

QHow do I obtain additional products not covered through Open Subscription License?
AFor OSL platform customers, additional products can be purchased through the Open License program.

QHow do I count my PCs for this agreement?
AThe customer counts all qualified desktops in their organisation. This includes personal desktop computers, portable computers, workstations and similar devices used by the enterprise (affiliates included) and which meet the minimum requirements for running any of the Open Subscription products. Qualified desktops do not include computers designated as a server and not used as a personal computer or any system dedicated to run ONLY line-of-business software.

QHow do I include my affiliates in this program?
AThe OSL customer defines their organisation as a single entity or a single entity including affiliates. An affiliate is an organisation owned or controlled by the customer or under joint ownership. If the OSL customer wants to include affiliates, they can indicate this on the order form at the beginning of the agreement.

QWhen will I be able to use the software under this agreement?
AThe OSL customer will be licensed to use the software once they have received the acceptance letter from Microsoft.

QWhere do I get the CDs to load the software on my computers?
AMicrosoft sends OSL customers a welcome kit for the OSL products chosen. The customer then chooses up to two language versions. If more than two are needed, they can order them for a small fee through their reseller. When a new version of the software is issued, Microsoft will automatically send this out as they become available in the language that the customer has chosen. This does not include service pack releases, software patches or other OSL product software updates.

QHow do I activate my Support Services?
AOnce Microsoft has accepted you, a welcome pack is sent out, detailing ways to activate the services. Once activated, you can begin to use their incidents as and when they are needed. The number of incidents are for each year of the program and are refreshed annually. Incidents cannot be carried over to the following year.

QHow do I add PCs during the course of my agreement?
AQualified desktops are added to your OSL agreement annually. You must indicate these additional desktops on the Microsoft follow-up order form. All that you need to do is to fill out this form and any additional desktops will be covered under this agreement for the same price they paid per desktop at the beginning of the agreement. This process is known as a True Up.
